Big Ben and The Parliament buildings of the UK – London, England

This Year we decided to go to Europe as a family to help celebrate Julie’s parents 50th wedding anniversary and see them renew their vows at Ashford Castle in Ireland. The first leg of our trip would be spent in London where we met up with Julie’s Sister and her family for a couple of day of sightseeing fun. The city of London is beautiful and we fell in love with it right away. Our son Dylan (now almost 4 and a half) handled the long flight and traveling very well. We where a little concerned about taking him at first because of all the hopping around we where planning on doing once we where overseas. I’ll tell ya, he was a trooper… but thank god every restaurant in Europe has french fries!!

Dylan having fun and enjoying the warmth of Grandpas swimming pool! – Palm City, FL.

We would like to say a big thank you to Grandma and Grandpa Bedford for having us over the Easter holiday break. It’s always nice to visit with the Grand Parents and the warm weather of Florida helps to thaw out our northern bodies. Dylan really enjoyed the pool and the kids events at the club this year. The club even put on a fireworks display this year after the carnival for the first time ever… and it was an awesome show!

We had our sons birthday party at J.W. Tumbles again this year, but with a new theme… PLANES! Funny how kids will see something like an animated movie and latch on to it for a year or longer. Dylan is a huge Dusty fan and therefor wanted his party to have the Planes theme. We had a nice gathering with a mix of both school friends/parents and some neighborhood kids. As you can tell form the smile… Dylan had a blast!!

Stockings stuffed with goodies hanging from the fireplace mantel… Happy Holidays Everyone!!

Another year is quickly coming to a close and although we have many things to be thankful for, there is nothing that brightens all of our lives more than the company of my son Dylan on Christmas Day!! I guess that’s why we have all decided to celebrate Christmas at our house every year instead of alternating between our house and my parents. It’s just easier with all the presents I guess… after all, they’re mostly for Dylan anyway! Hope you enjoy the photos… and Happy Holidays everyone!!

Here are some of the photos taken at this years DCCX Cycle Cross event at the Armed Forces Retirement Center in Washington, DC. One of the highlights of the day was my brother, Mike Vanderbilt, taking third place in his event… Congrats Bro!! Dylan also had a race of his own and while he didn’t do so well, he still took home a medal. It was a great day to be outside with friends and family!

Julie, Dylan and I before dinner at the Tucker’s Point Beach Club, Bermuda

Here is my trip post for our annual spring trip to Bermuda. This year we decided to wait and go a little later than usual so that we could meet up with Julie’s sister and her family to enjoy a week in paradise together. Dylan was really looking forward to seeing his cousins and spending time with them on the beach and in the swimming pools. Everyone had a great time and we even hired a sitter one evening so that Susan, Jason, Julie and I could enjoy a fancy dinner at one of our favorite restaurants… Cafe’ Lido on Elbow Beach. We hope that you enjoy the photos… I’ll try to post some videos soon!

Dylan working the brakes on an antique locomotive – B & O Railroad Museum – Baltimore, MD

I’m not quite sure where Julie first heard about this… maybe it was a neighbor or one of the other parents at school, but our family adventure to Baltimore would turn out to be a fun filled day for the Vanderbilt’s! If you know Dylan at all, then you know he has a huge obsession with Thomas The Train and trains in general. He wants to ride them, drive them, crash them and if possible dismantle them. Here are some photos from our adventure with ‘Thomas the Train’ at the B & O Railroad Museum in Baltimore, Maryland.

Easter Vacation in Florida

Dylan enjoying his Grandparents warm pool in sunny West Palm, Florida

Easter vacation in West Palm was a whole lot of fun this year! The weather was great, the pool was warm and Dylan is finally at the age where he can mix and mingle with the family better. His speech has improved greatly and his ability to communicate has made it easier to ‘let go’ so to speak and not worry quite so much about him all the time.

Dylan enjoys seeing his cousins greatly and has really started to bond with them. He has also become much more comfortable in the pool… although he is not swimming with out a flotation device yet, he is making progress with his swimming skills. Just you wait and see, we’ll make a diver out of him yet!
