These are some photos from Christmas morning here in Arlington with Dylan and the family. Last year Dylan really didn’t get the whole Christmas present thing, but this year he was eager to get down to business and tear into some wrapping paper! He reminded me a lot of his Uncle Mike, who can be late for everything else, but on Christmas day, he is always the first one pulling presents out from under the tree! I had the tough job of putting all of Dylan’s toys together, but when the day was done I believe everyone got what they truly wanted. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year everyone!

Thanksgiving In Captiva

This year, as for every other year now, we have been making the trip down to Captive Florida to spend Thanksgiving with Julie’s family and all of her relatives. I’ll have to say, it is a nice getaway from the cold and dreary weather of Northern Virginia! This year we rented a house on the resort (instead of staying at the condo’s), so that Julie’s side of the family could all stay together in one place.

It was very nice of Bruce to put this trip together and along with the house being great, the pool in the back yard was a huge hit for the kids… especially Dylan! It was also great seeing all the cousins, nieces and nephews and we were really glad to hear that everyone has been doing well over the past couple of years. We look forward to seeing you all again very soon. Until then… Cheers!!

Our Spring Bermuda Vacation

It’s becoming a tradition for us to spend a couple of weeks every year at one of our favorite island getaways… The Tucker’s Point Club in Bermuda. So to break up the craziness of the year, we try to get away to our island paradise once in the spring and then again in the fall. It’s a great place to go and relax or get in a couple rounds of golf and Dylan has become a real fan of the beautiful beaches.

This spring the weather was not quite as nice as one would expect, so we ended up doing a little more sightseeing and shopping than normal. We did however manage to get in a couple of really nice beach days and Dylan always has a good time in Bermuda… rain or shine! I’ll be posting some videos shortly, but for now we hope you enjoy the photos!

Dylan’s Easter Vacation

This year we spent Easter vacation in Florida again with Julies parents and as usual Dylan had a really great time. Susan, Jason and their kids also came down for the long weekend so it turned out to be a nice little family gathering. I think Dylan was still a little young to truly get into the Easter egg dash, but he did enjoy the other activities at the club and as always, it was nearly impossible to keep him out of the pool! Dylan is finally starting to get his ‘move’ on! Yep, he’s learning to trust his balance and starting to take some unassisted steps. At this rate he should be walking on his own by the end of the month! Although, I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or not, but it will surely help with my sore shoulder.

And then Dylan says…”flip me over in an hour or if you happen to smell flesh burning.”

The more time we spend in Bermuda, the more we want to go back… go figure! It’s one of those places’s that you just can’t seem get enough of no matter how hard you try! This trip we brought along our son’s nanny Stephanie, to help look after him and give Julie and I a chance to possibly do some diving or play a couple rounds of golf. I must say, it was another beautiful week in paradise and Dylan had the beach bum look really working for himself by the time we had to leave. An Early Bermuda Getaway

Spring time in Bermuda is always fantastic and this year would prove to be no different. One nice spin on this years early vacation would be the celebration of Dylan’s second trip to the Island. Now that he’s a little older and much more mobile, we will get to see how he reacts to the huge sand box known as the beach. The last time he was here he had a major fit every time Julie or I tried to put him down in the sand. Since then, Julie has spent a great deal of time working with him in the sand box at our local playground. Hey, he’s my son… he’s got to love the beach, right!!

Dylan’s First Birthday Party!!

I think it kind of turned out to be more of a party for the adults than for Dylan and the other kids that attended, but our sons first full year on the planet is an occasion worth going a little over board on! One personal note for future events…. no more blue cakes!!!

Happy New Year!!

Dylan’s first New Years Eve… Watching the ball drop on TV!

Happy New Year Everyone!! We took a year off from our normal evening out to stay in and celebrate the ball dropping with Dylan. Yeah, we could have gotten a babysitter and gone out on the town, but it was Dylan’s first New Years Eve, so we elected to spend it with the little guy! Julie got Dylan a festive balloon for the occasion and we gave him his first taste of champagne at the stroke of midnight…. unfortunately, the champagne Julie bought really wasn’t very good and Dylan didn’t care for the taste at all.

The next day, we all made the drive down to my parents place for our annual New Years family dinner. Mike and Julia were there for the occasion and Dylan got a chance to play with my brothers dog, Neema, while we waited for my mothers food to hit the table. It was a wonderful dinner and a great start to what we hope will be a fantastic New Year for all of us!
