Dinosaurs Live!

12/20/2014 – “Dinosaurs Live at the DC Armory” – Washington, DC

When my son gets something into his head, there is no way you are going to get around it. Dylan saw a advertisement on television last week for something called ‘Dinosaurs Live’ and told us that we had to go see the live dinosaurs. I tried to explain to him that the dinosaurs where not real, but he corrected me and said “but look dad, they move!” So as a Saturday afternoon excursion to humor my son, we drove down to the DC Armory for the show. Dylan thought it was great and had a ton of fun… I think we saw the entire exhibit at least twice! Here is a home movie from the show… enjoy!

Today we took Dylan downtown to the DC National Armory for a weekend event featuring… yep, you guessed it, Dinosaurs!! Dylan saw a commercial for the event on television and told us that we had to go. He made it sound like it was a life or death situation… “Dad, there are live dinosaurs there!!” Well we caved in like most parents do and headed down to see what all the fuss was about. I have to admit, it was fun and the robotic dinosaurs were as real as I would ever want them to be, but the lines for the bouncy rides/houses where unreal! Dylan had the most fun out of all of us, but next time I think I will skip work and take him in the middle of the day to avoid the lines.

10/21/2012 – The DC Cyclocross Event at the AFRH – Washington, DC

Here is a little video I spliced together of last years DC Cyclocross event that my brother Mike raced in. You will see him a lot in the three minute video… he is wearing the Team V-Day cycling logo’s. It was so windy that day that the soundtrack was pretty bad, so I add a music soundtrack that I might pump this video up a bit… enjoy!!

Dylan sharing cheese pizza with his friends at JW Tumbles – Arlington, VA

This year Julie wanted to change things up a little for Dylan’s birthday party and have it somewhere besides our house. For ease of parking, clean-up and since Dylan and his friends are much more mobile we thought renting a playroom would be best. So we rented the Play Zone at JW Tumbles in Arlington for his party and it was a huge hit with the kids!

Most of the family, including both sets of Grand Parents, were in town to share in all the festivities and there was no shortage of kids either. Along with the neighborhood kids that Dylan knows, quite a few of his preschool classmates were able to attend as well. It was a great party and Dylan enjoyed the fun with his friends immensely! Thank you to everyone who was able to attend and please enjoy the photos from the event!

Here are a couple of photos from my brother’s race at the DC Cyclecross which took place on the grounds of the Armed Forces Retirement Home in Washington, DC. I wish I had remembered to bring my DSLR camera for this event, but I was glad I had my little Sony DSC-H55 pocket camera… there would have been no chance at all of catching the action with a cellphone camera! Dylan really enjoyed watching Uncle Mike ride in the race, so I’ll have to remember to bring the Nikon next time…!

My Boy Dylan… working it like he owns it!

This weekend we took Dylan to the Arlington County Fire Department’s annual open house at Fire Station #6. Dylan has become a huge fire truck guy, as are most boys his age, and we thought it would be nice to let him get up close and personal with some real fire equipment. After two hours of running around and climbing on everything in sight he was wiped out! Here are a couple of pictures from the day… enjoy!

2/09/2012 – Dylan’s second birthday party celebration / blowing out the candle!

Here are a couple of home movies I put together from our son Dylan’s second birthday party. Dylan had a great time and was super excited to have so many of his friend show up for the party. Julie were also very happy that so many of our friends and family could attend. Thank you all for your love and support… and we hope to see you again next year!

Julie’s Baby Shower…!

:: Tags: Event, Family, Thoughtful

First off, Julie wanted me to thank everyone for attending her baby shower last weekend and for all the lovely gifts… she is truly blessed to have so many great friends! We also wanted to thank Julie’s sister Susan for making the trip down from Canada and organizing the entire event… it was truly a special day! We know that there were some of you who couldn’t make it to the shower and we do understand and hope that all is well. For those of you who were fortunate enough to make it and those of you who were unable to attend, here are some photos I took during the festivities. We hope you enjoyed yourselves and look forward to seeing everyone again very soon…!!

The Macy’s Day Parade 2009!

:: Tags: Event, Photo, Travel

This past Thanksgiving, Julie and I traveled to New York City to spend the holiday weekend with her family and take in some of the sights of the city. One of the highlights of this trip would be a front row seat at the starting line of the Macy’s Day Parade! Julie’s sisters place is a half a block from the starting point of the parade at 77th street and Central Park West, so since neither one of us had ever seen the parade live before (and we happened to be in the neighborhood)  we decided to check it out first hand. Wow… looks like everyone else in the city had the same idea!! I’ve added some photos from the event, but I have not had a chance to add captions yet. As you look through the photos keep in eye out for the one’s with Cindy Lauper… she was on the pink castle float! Enjoy…!!!

July 4th Fireworks in DC!

:: Tags: Boating, Event, Friends, Photo

Well here we are… another year, another July 4Th and yes another boating trip up to Washington DC for the best Independence Day Fireworks show in the country (or so I’ve been told.) This year will mark the second anniversary of our new boat, so we where truly excited to be able to spend the entire weekend out on the water as we did last year. Saturday started out with the usual meeting of friends out at Belmont Bay for the pre-trip festivities and then around 4:30 we pulled the anchor and started the hour long cruise up to DC. Our goal… find a good spot to anchor for dinner and then relax & enjoy the show.

Charlie & Nichole were the first from our little group to make it under the 14Th street bridge and almost right away found an open spot in nearly the same location as we anchored last year. Just up river from the tidal basin with a great view of both the Washington Monument and the Fireworks show… who could ask for more! After getting everyone tied up and settled in for the show (and the evening) we broke out the grills for some shrimp, steak and veggie kabobs and then kicked back for one of most relaxing and pleasant evening on the Potomac River we’ve had in a very long time!
