“Dylan and Uncle Mike after a nice bike ride” – Arlington, VA.

I always like to add a post every year with more current photos of Dylan’s biking skills. He’s turning out to be as comfortable on two wheels as my brother and I were as kids. It scares me a little to know that one day he will move up to motorcycles as we did and have to worry about sharing the road with distracted drivers. Everyone knows that the drivers in this area have no respect for cyclists of any kind. Be safe my son!!

Note: Dylan also did very well in the Air Force Cycling Classic kids race this year in Clarendon. There where several local cycling magazine photographers and community paper reporters there covering the race who asked permission to use Dylan’s picture in their publications. He is a super photogenic kid!!

“Enjoying Amtrak’s Business Class on the Northeastern line to New York City” – New York, NY.

For this years spring trip to New York City, Julie and I decided to take the train instead of flying. Just the lowered stress level alone of traveling by train rather than fighting lines in the airport made this trip so much nicer. I thing we will take the train from now on when traveling to New York. One sad note… Penn Station is still a shit hole! Why can’t the city officials get their act’s together and remodel or at least try to clean that place up?! Washington, DC did a fantastic job remodeling and modernizing Union Station!

05/13/2016 – “The Pelican Class in the River School Spring Play” – Washington, DC.

As promised, here is a home video of the Pelican classes performance in the River School’s Spring Play. I used video clips from his classes two parts in the play and spliced them together to make one long video. remember, this is a personal video and not meant to show the entire play. I was just interested in Dylan’s class and their first stage performance. Well done Dylan!!

“The Pelican Class dressed as ‘Dinosaurs’ for the RS School Spring Play” – Washington, DC.

This year Dylan’s kindergarten class was asked to take part in the RS Spring Play. His class participated in Drama classes and dress rehearsals for two months prior to the performance. Although his class had only on scene of their own and one other scene with all the other classes I thought he and the rest of the Pelican Class did an awesome job! Here are a couple of photos from the rehearsal, play and the class after party. I’ll try to post a video at a later date.

“A family photo on Mother’s Day 2016” – The Cosmos Club, Washington, DC.

This year for Mother’s Day, Julies father Bruce, came up with the fantastic idea to take everyone to brunch downtown at the very exclusive Cosmos Club. Bruce, being a member of the Yale Club, gets special VIP privileges at two dozen or so other exclusive private clubs around the world. So, with both sets of grandparents in town for Mother’s Day we decided to dress up and go enjoy a top notch meal in a fabulous venue with three wonderful mothers!! “The Cosmos Club, located in Washington, D.C., was founded by John Wesley Powell in 1878. It is a private social club for men and women distinguished in science, literature and the arts or public service. Members come from virtually every profession that has anything to do with scholarship, creative genius or intellectual distinction.”

One Rough Hockey Game

:: Tags: Friends, Fun, Hockey, Sports

My adult league hockey game this past Friday night turned out to be one of the roughest hockey games I’ve had in quite some time. They say you tell how hard you’re playing by the amount of rubber left on the blade of your stick and also by the amount of blood you leave on the ice. Well folks, I had both. A ton of shots, several assists, a goal, two or three blocked shots and even a skate blade wound to the back of the leg! Even though he caught me up high on the leg, the cut wasn’t that deep thanks to my wrap around pads, so I’m not too worried about needing stitches or it getting infected. However, I do hope that the blood washes out of my socks. Anyway, it was an awesome game and an even better win!

Dylan’s First Lost Tooth!

“Dylan showing off his first lost baby tooth” – Arlington, VA.

Dylan lost his first baby tooth the other day and the first words out of his mouth where… “So, how much do you think it’s worth?!” I think the tooth fairy was way too generous, but he and Julie did do a great job of promoting it… so I played along as a good father should. How do those little chick-lets even stay in his mouth anyway?!

The Circus Video

04/03/2016 – “The Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey Circus” – Verizon Center, Washington, DC.

Here is a small home video taken at the Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey Circus the other night in DC. As you can tell, from the extremely low video quality, I took this with my iPhone 6… definitely not my first choice for recording equipment, especially in low light conditions. Dylan had a great time though… you can hear him screaming about half way through the video.

“Dylan sporting his big red clown nose!” – Verizon Center, Washington, DC.

This weekend, Julie and I took Dylan, Uncle Mike and the Grandparents to the Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey Circus at the Verizon Center. I haven’t been to a circus since I was a kid and Dylan has never been to one, so this little excursion was sure to be a hit! It seemed to me that there were a lot more acts and animals when I saw it as a kid. I remember there being monkeys, polar bears and even Russian Cossack’s performing stunts on horse back. Thank goodness they still had the elephants and the lion cage. All in all it was a great show and Dylan really enjoyed it!

“Dylan enjoying the kid’s craft fair at the Club House” – Harbour Ridge Country Club, Palm City, FL.

Another winter has past and as spring is just around the corner we find ourselves back in sunny Florida for Easter break. We love our little Easter getaway to see Julie’s family in West Palm and after the long snowy winter everyone is looking forward to a little R&R and a lot of warm sunshine. Dylan’s favorite part of the trip is always Grandparents Weekend at the Club and the kids carnival on Saturday night. My favorite part is the all-you-can-eat Sunday Brunch at the Country Club! Oh, and the Bloody Mary’s aren’t bad either! Dylan and I hope you enjoy the photos… until next time!
