Thanksgiving in Captiva 2017

We have always enjoy spending the Thanksgiving holiday in Captiva, Florida with family. It’s always nice to see Julie’s sister and her family and it also gives us a chance to catch up with her other cousins. If the weather cooperates, it’s also a nice way to grab just a little more summer sunshine before the reality of winter sets in. Halloween 2017

I’ll try not to go overboard with the annual Halloween post write-up this year, but you do know how much my wife loves this holiday. We started things off with an evening outdoor event at one of Dylan’s classmate’s families properties in The Plains, VA, where all the parents and kids of this years Osprey Class enjoyed a bonfire, spooky hayrides through the woods and even an awesome food truck serving taco’s for dinner! Thank you for hosting Amy & Brian… this was a fantastic event! Next on the list would be the annual River School Halloween parade up and down MacArthur Blvd, followed by our normal neighborhood evening trick-or-treating adventure with Dylan and all his local friends. July 4th Holiday Parade

As we all know, Julie and Dylan are always up for decorating when it comes to a holiday… and the July 4th holiday celebration is one that we all enjoy! Here are some photos form our neighborhood July 4th Parade that our local Arlington fire station puts together every year. Dylan likes to ride his bike in the parade with his friends, so we try to get there early enough that he can get up on the front row for the start.

Happy Mother’s Day 2018

This year we celebrated Mother’s Day once again at the Cosmos Club in Washington, DC. As in years past, this has become a favorite gathering place for our family to celebrate the mothers in our lives. We are all very happy that we can come together each year in such a wonderful place for such an important holiday. Happy Mother’s Day everyone!

Our Easter Vacation

As per normal, we spent our spring Easter vacation down in Palm City, Florida with the grandparents. The private community that my wife’s parents live in always puts on an awesome grandparents weekend for all the visiting families and kids. It starts of with fun kids activities at the club, then an Easter egg hunt on the golf course and finally ends with a huge carnival on the fairway of the first hole. This is a huge event for the entire community and the kids love it. The food is great and the adults can indulge in an adult cocktail while chasing the little ones around between the different rides and booths. My favorite part of the weekend is the Sunday morning brunch at the club. They have a huge all you can eat buffet with everything you could think of and their Bloody Mary’s are to die for!

Mother’s Day at The Cosmos Club

This year for Mother’s Day, Julies father Bruce, came up with the fantastic idea to take everyone to brunch downtown at the very exclusive Cosmos Club. Bruce, being a member of the Yale Club, gets special VIP privileges at two dozen or so other exclusive private clubs around the world. So, with both sets of grandparents in town for Mother’s Day we decided to dress up and go enjoy a top notch meal in a fabulous venue with three wonderful mothers!! “The Cosmos Club, located in Washington, D.C., was founded by John Wesley Powell in 1878. It is a private social club for men and women distinguished in science, literature and the arts or public service. Members come from virtually every profession that has anything to do with scholarship, creative genius or intellectual distinction.”
